Latex and Japanese

Hi, does anyone use Latex?
I was wondering how I can produce a latex file in Japanese. I already set my Mac to type in Japanese (あいうえお）and I tried to blindly write a simple sentence and compile the latex file but where it should be hiragana and kanji is just question marks.
Did anyone try before? Any suggestions? Packages or otherwise? By the way on the mac I'm using Texshop embedded in Tex-Live.

Thanks for some reasons I found only the last of the four links you showed me when I googled before posting here.
As I read on the problem is not packages, which was what I first thought, but missing fonts in MacTex (which is a LaTeX distribution for Mac). Anyway ... now I think I know what to ask Google to find.

By the way, LaTeX is a typesetting program which relies on document markup and so on. It's basically a computer language for typesetting, because of this it's very flexible and incredibly fast in particular for formulae and equations.

A couple of question about that poster ...
is it common to write さん smaller than the rest of the characters?
and what does 化けの皮 mean? 化け I think it's the ます-stem of 化ける (to appear in disguise, but also to corrupt) and 皮 is skin ... so 'the skin of the appearance'? or 'the skin of the corruption'?

It is when you want to make sure the name of the person is as large as possible on your poster.

The normal way to write the name of the markup language is LaTeX rather than "latex".

Indeed. Nishioka Sumiko is a どM who's stage personal is a どS.
So, a fitting title for her book (which I haven't read btw. This was just the first picture I could find of her in her classic pose)

I love LaTeX, I've written most of my lab reports with it and now my master's thesis.
I haven't gotten the Japanese characters to work with it yet. It probably has something to do with TexnicCenter editor though.

ど means "Extremely" such as in どアホ
Extremely Masochistic and Extremely Sadistic, respectively. (This refers to personality, not sexuality)

You need to get PLaTeX to do Japanese characters; this is a Japanese derivative of LaTeX.
