a simple thing, i guess

Do you have a translation question?

a simple thing, i guess

I would like to know if this is correct,

わたしは葵

Or this part would be word by word,

わたし (i)
は (am)
葵 (aoi, I already know this character is correct, I just used one I already knew from a band)

Edit: I already think I know I am right,
I would just like to 'know' I am.
I have extremely high expectations of things/people so if i insult you, I'm sorry.
And Trust me, I'm trying to work on this.

は isn't "is," it simply marks the subject of the sentence... so, essentially, you have only "I Aoi."

I would suggest reading this site: http://www.guidetojapanese.org/copula.html

If you are serious about learning some Japanese, I would suggest going to the top page (http://www.guidetojapanese.org/) and reading all sections in order. That's how I got started!

I think you meant topic, not subject:)

In that case it marks both.

Well yeah, but that is just because the topic also happens to be the subject.
Still, I just wanted to correct him that は marks topic, not subjects(even if topic happens to be subjec), in case people read the thread.

That's a good thing to correct... if the people reading even understand the difference. :P
(not because they can't; it's just that the topic/subject problem is most likely something only experience learners have looked into)

I didn't expect this thread would delve into the intricacies of は, so I tried to keep it simple so the OP would understand
