I Made a Hiragana/Katakana Game :)
To prevent myself from having to memorize Hiragana and Katakana the tough way, I spent the last three weeks creating a web game called Stackana. After all, the most important rule in forum rules is having fun while learning Japanese!
Screenshots of Stackana:

While playing this game I have learnt various Hiragana/Katakana characters subconsciously. I figure this can also help those of you who are new comers wanting to learn Kana but finding it too hard to memorize.
So give it a try now! At the end of each fun game you will realize you know a few more kana characters without even feeling the pain! Since the game is still in Beta stage, please let me know if you find any problem or you have other cooler ideas to improve this game play!
Try it now at: Stackana - The Hiragana and Katakana Learning Game
Thanks,
Ben.

Looks interesting... Maybe I'll try it when I get home.
I support Heseig, got a problem with that? Good, 'cause I really don't care.

What a great idea. I can certainly see how this would be a fun way to drill the kana.
Great job!

Yes Clay, I find it hard for me to memorize those characters, so I made a game to learn them in the fun way. Anyway, thanks for checking it out. If you like it and think it can help your other friends, feel free to let them know. If you dislike it, please let me know what went wrong with it. I appreciate all sorts of feedbacks
Have fun!

I'm glad it helped you, Conaj!
I am receiving feedbacks from players and working on some improvements this week. The work is likely to get over by the end of the weekend, I will be posting here again to let you know the enhancements in Beta version 0.5!
Please enjoy yourself in the mean time, and give me feedback. Thanks!

I like it, thank you
Any chance of a downloadable version? Or can you play it offline?
I'm really slow but enjoy it and I think you're right, it's a good memory aid!
Thanks again.

I was unable to play that game.
I thought it sounded great and would be fun for the kids class I teach, but I was unable to open it.

Hi Tokai, I'm sorry it did not run well for you. I suspect you do not have the "Microsoft Silverlight" plug-in. How do you get it? You can click on the link below, and when a File Download dialog shows up, you can click on the "Run" button. That should install the necessary plug-in on your computer. Then you can revisit my site again, you should then be able to run the game.
Click here to install Microsoft Silverlight:

Hope that helps, if not, please post back so that I can help you further.
Regards,
Ben.

Thank you for making this.
This game is here by on my permanent tab list.
Lucky I found it now, we're studying hiragana at the moment and it's starting to be slightly owerwhelming.

You should seriously make a flash port and upload it to a site like Kongregate. Maybe the -goal- wasn't to make money, but you already made the game..... just a thought. I think it'd go over well. And if you want feedback.... well, you'll get it. Gotta have a thick skin when you present something publicly, because some of those people can be brutal, but a lot of people are really constructive, too.
