Some lines for a composition

Postby leonl » Thu 09.24.2009 2:41 pm

I'm working an assignment due next week for class, its 15 lines on why you study Japanese. I was wondering if I could have someone look at a couple of lines.

1.I heard English Teachers in Japan make a lot of money

or

2. I study Japanese because I think its interesting
Omoshiroi shi, Nihongo wo benkyoushimasu

or
Omoshiroi to Omote iru tame ni Nihongo wo benkyo shimasu

3. Some of my favorite foods are Japanese
(totally lost on how to include some)
Ichiban suki na tabemono wa Nihon no desu

4. When I was a kid I used to watch Pokemon, DBZ , Saliormoon and others

5 When I'm in Japanese class I learn new things

Nihongo no kurasu iru toki ni atarashii mono wo naraimasu( should this be te iru , because the class is ongoing?)

Sorry for the roomaji, I'm in the library and the computers are weird here

Thanks in advance for the help

Edit Summary added soo da to first two lines

Hello! I would say something like :

1)私は英語の先生が日本にたくさんのお金を儲けると聞きました

2)面白いだから日本語を勉強しています

But maybe I am mistaken... this was my try for the sentences N° one and two!
However, it's better to await for someone else!

Best regards, Rupan Sansei

You should know better than putting だ after おもしろい ;)

Back to OP.

Your English sentence says Japanese Teachers, but I guess you mean English Teachers since that what you say in your Japanese sentence.

Not sure how natural these sentences are.

These are just suggestions based on your effort and your original sentences.
They might be incorrect, if so, hopefully someone will correct these ones as well.

Those are all perfect. Very natural and very native-like.
Whenever I find a perfect answer here, I feel kind of jealous.

Would the following be correct?

Ichiban suki na tabemono (wa, ga?) Nihon kara kimashita

Edit: On a a side note I notice I never get the right usage of ni or de, whenever I think its one its always the other kinda frustrating, but onward I plow

One point, though.

In Japan, it seems, one doesn't teach "English" but "English conversation." So it's not 英語の先生 but 英会話の先生.
