How to become an Gravure Idol in Japan
Does anyone know how I would go about doing this? Do I need an Entertainers Visa? BTW, the Youtuber Applemilk1988 is a Gravure idol now. Awesome.
Thanks

Well first of all, before you do anything else you have to be a 美少女.

Clearly, that's the case. Didja see the OP's name?

Oh that's what it means! I was thinking of some Wierd Al Yankovich look alike trying to get into the business.

Has a troll arrived? Or is it all too ironic?

I think you guys may be being a bit hard on her; "bishojo" is a common word that many anime fans know, but I doubt many of them can read the kanji for it.

Perhaps, but with the rash of current spam/troll/controvercy posts lately, can you really blame us?

Re: How to become an Gravure Idol in Japan
Probably money, and the hope that it will lead to being an actor or singer (which does happen in some instances; it's not quite as silly as what you sometimes hear of in the US where people go into porn in the hopes of being an actress someday. I mean of course most gravure idols never do anything beyond gravure, but there are a few big name singers and actresses who got their start doing that).
Now what I don't get are the parents who allow their children as young as 9 or 10 to pose for such things; I'm not sure what they're thinking.

I know what 美少女 means but I had to Google "Gravure Idol"
Rather than ask on a forum what a Japanese word means you can always look it up yourself in Jim Breen's WWWJDIC
Don't complain to me that people kick you when you're down. It's your own fault for lying there
