Difference between these request forms

Postby Evgeniy » Wed 01.27.2010 3:12 am

Hello. Not long ago I have confronted with a problem exercise in a book. Please help find out differences, e.g. who is the receiver , the performer of the action, and the degree of politeness.

Remember もらう is "receiving" and いただく is the polite form of 「もらう」, once you keep this in mind, you can slowly figure out who is the receiver and who is the giver.

I received a book (from someone)
From whom the book was received?

Will Yuki buy me a book?
Could Yuki buy me a book?

貰わせる is the causative form, this expression is used to mean "X permits/allows/make Y to do something."

Please let me buy the book.
I was allowed to buy the book.
Am I allowed to buy the book?
May I allowed to buy the book?

買おう is the volitional form

I'm thinking to buy a book.
I'm thinking you will buy me a book.
I'm thinking you will let me buy a book.
