Axis and Allies
RE: Axis and Allies
I think it is just the five of us at the moment.
Valatunda appears to still be having trouble. I'm going to start a second game without him so that we can determine if it is a server problem or a local problem with Val.

Never underestimate my capacity for pettiness.

RE: Axis and Allies
I made my move without any complications. Maybe is everything ok again.
Yesterday the server was down and there was some notice about maintanance. Actually the message was saying something similar to this "I'm trying to find out what the heck is with the server". Probably he found out although he left no comment about what was happening recently.

The problem has been solved now. My Norton Internet Security was blocking it.

Mike, Keat, Hark.
Been a while between things. Hope you are all well and had a good new year.
Any takers interested in a revival?

Hello!
I was so busy that I didn't realize it was more than a year ago when we stopped to play. I hope that the last year was a good one for all of you.
I miss the games we played and I'd like to start again if you have time and interest.

Re: Axis and Allies
I really like"Politics" (a Diplomacy clone on the same site as the A&A game). It's kind of a nice change after playing so much A&A.
Although I'm kind of split about playing it with people I know. Since the core of the game is all about gaining people's trust then stabbing them in the back, it'd be a completely different experience playing with people you know over complete strangers. You'd feel actual allegiances to people and not want to lie to your friends.
But it might be a fun experiment, especially if we all agree to not hate one another for flat out lying in the game
The documentation on the site is a little slim. Try looking up Diplomacy on wikipedia or something to get an idea of how to play. I can explain anything that isn't clear. Let me know if you guys want to try it out!

Re: Axis and Allies
If you like diplomacy, this is a very good site as well. It doen't use e-mail, and all information is stored on a server which processes deadlines once every 12 hours to 7 days (depending on how you set it up).
It also has an option where turns are processed as soon as everyone has entered their orders (so no fixed deadlines), but you need a premium membership for that, which costs 1 euro per month.

Re: Axis and Allies
Gamesbyemail.com is exactly the same... except it's 100% free
(The "by email" part just means they notify you by email when it's your turn--the actual game is played on the server)

Re: Axis and Allies
Ahhh... I see. Well I wouldn't mind playing along a game or two then
But I do agree that this is might not be the perfect game to play with friends, since it's all about backstabbing. You have to be able to separate the game from "real life" (which I have witnessed for some people is harder than it sounds), otherwise things go wrong...

Re: Axis and Allies
I haven't been here in a year... And I start with necroposting. Well, a bit over a week old thread anyways. Don't expect me anywhere else on the forum, though. I'm just dropping by because Rich PM'd me. I'm such a jerk...
At any rate, I'd be happy to join in on a new A&A season. Diplomacy sounds fun too. You have my email, right, Keat? PM me if you've lost it in the last year or so. I miss those games...

Sometimes I think that I'm afraid of thinking, and that scares me.

Re: Axis and Allies
I've started a game of Politics with the usual members.
We'll see if everyone still checks their e-mail.
It'll probably be a little bumpy at first, but once things get moving it should be a fun game!
Jay: If you want in on the next game, PM me your e-mail address.

Re: Axis and Allies
Sorry, but I only succeeded in logging in today and I don’t think I’ve visited that site often either. For a long time I’ve been using another e-mail too. Anyway, I don’t feel I would like to play.

Thanks for posting a year later to tell us you won't be playing
