I'm not entirely sure, but to me it looks like a mushed up version of:
まあ当たり前(あたりまえ)でそうけどね。

I believe you are along the right lines, but I think that the final でそけど is just a typo for ですけど

Yes, but it's not a question.
It means something more along to lines of "But that's only natural"
