Although I think there's a misunderstanding. With the word "God = divine" I did not mean "the God of Christianity (religion), it would have been cleaner to write 神 = Kami = something which refers also to the concept of " divine ", I did not specified it, I'm sorry.
@ Coco : There is not even a really context I think. :
As I said before, my karate sensei was thinking about a name for a martial art association. Then he suggested Shin Kami some time ago. He told me that Shin Kami could be translated in Italian as "spirito divino" and in English "divine spirit"; thinking the 神 as the Japanese divinities. So now the point turns around "spirit", my karate sensei has never studied Japanese and he did not think about 精, 魂(maybe) etc, for the word "spirit". He thought only about "Shin" = 心.
And that's all.
Now I wonder : 心 = spirit, can it be?

Here is what my dictionary says about 心>
心【こころ】
(n) mind, heart, spirit, (P)
Dou omoimasuka?
