Song Translating (help)

Post by Decae00 » Sat 07.10.2010 3:50 pm

Okay, so I'm trying to translate a jrock song right now, and this is one of the lines:

nani ga machigatteita no ka are mo kore mo koukai no nen ni kararemakuru
何が間違っていたのか あれもこれも後悔の念に駆られまくる

I'm still a little dense on Japanese grammar (how exactly to use verbs to be specific), so I was confused translating this. My translation is "Was I wrong, or did I succumb to my regretful thoughts?" Is that correct or no? :?

Since I'm not good at English, I can't make out the English nuance.
But meaning-wise, my version is:
"What went wrong? I can't stop feeling a pang of regret for everything."
Just for your reference.

Every night 訪れる痛みをキシキシきしむベッドの上で耐えて
何が間違っていたのか あれもこれもと後悔の念にかられまくる
「今のままじゃダメになるね」と誰が言ったのかもわからなくなる

Wow, I was really off. I really mess up with how verbs are used, usually when they're not at the end of the entire sentence. Thank you for clearing that up. :D
