Hello All!

Postby funk_e » Sun 11.14.2010 11:25 pm

I have finally decided I am going to learn Japanese!

I have loved all things Japanese for a very long time, and have always wanted to learn.. so what better time than now?

I am about to purchase the Genki Series to get started so wish me luck :-)

I hope I can be a good contributing member of this forum :-)

funk_eさん、TJPへようこそ!(Welcome to TJP funk_e-san!)

Genki is great... I've gone through Genki I up to chapter 10, and there are a lot of other people with Genki on here (it's regarded as one of the best textbooks available), so please feel free to ask any questions you might have. :)

Please allow me to point out, as I'm sure if I don't someone else will....

We are more than happy to help you learn Japanese, but please try to follow the general forum etiquette in regards to how you write your own native language here on the forum.

I don't mean this to dissuade you from learning Japanese by any means... I'm just stating it because I know that if I don't say it, someone else will.

Ninja'ed by phreadom-san :ninja:

It is also not good forum etiquette to hijack someone elses introduction thread with your own introduction.

Take particular note of rule #7;

7: The most important rule. Have fun while learning Japanese!

:D

Dōmo arigatō everyone!

I am very excited and am looking forward to getting my Genki books :-) I also like the look of the 'Japanese in Mangaland' and 'Kana de Manga' books as a fun diversion while learning... has anyone seen these?

On a side note, I am still a little confused about the correct usage of san and sama (is it just that sama is more formal?)

I will take a look around and see what I can learn! :-)

I have seen 'Japanese in Mangaland' but have not actually used it.

Yes, sama is more formal.

Thanks for the tip chikara-san!

I just placed my order for the Genki 1 books and the Mangaland 1 books (for a bit of variety) and will let you all know how I go!

Looking forward to it :-)
