こんにちはみなさん
Dustin was kind enough to suggest I introduce myself here.
I developed an interest in Japanese language and culture about 12 years ago through (surprise, surprise) anime. I've tried to learn the language before, but usually gave up a few days after I'd started.
However, a few months ago, I decided that I wanted to learn how to read Japanese. So in April, I bought a book to teach myself kana, and a copy of Japanese for Everyone. Learning the kana was the kick in the pants I needed. I'm almost finished JfE, and am about to start working through it a second time, along with Kanji Odyssey. I've also made the jump to reading some easier manga, watching Japanese TV without subs, and working with language exchange partners.
It's challenging, and sometimes painfully slow. However, when I look back on where my Japanese language skills were in April, it gives me the drive to keep improving.

Re: こんにちはみなさん
May I be the first one to officially welcome you on your intro thread
Hopefully your second round through JFE will be quick and you can move on to intermediate studies in no time!
It's great to see that you've almost reached the conclusion of JFE in just a few months, that's pretty quick so I can see why some of the information might not be sticking well!
Anyways Congrats on your progress and Welcome

Don't complain to me that people kick you when you're down. It's your own fault for lying there
