Books on the geography of Japan

Can anybody recommend any books in Japanese on the geography of Japan?

I search a bit for 地理 over on Amazon Japan, and I saw a couple of books that might be interesting. Most do not have the "look inside" option, so it is really hard to tell.

Ideally, I'm looking for something more textbook-like (that is, not like a travel brochure).

I would greatly appreciate any recommendations!

I definitely want the book to be in the Japanese language.

I want to learn about each of the prefectures, so I would like to see information on the major cities, the environment (the rivers, mountains), and some history and culture (famous landmarks or products). Things like that...

In other words, I want to learn about the things that Japanese people think of when they think about 青森... but for all of them!

The government gives most informations to this publish company.
Thus this book is one of the most precise and informative.
And point is cheap!!

But please pay attention to buy this book.
Because this book is published annually,
so above ISBN is for 2011 ver.

Anyway, why 青森?
perhaps, will you go to misawa, 三沢?

That book looks interesting, but might be too technical.

I was thinking something like this book (but for Japan):

The New York Public Library Amazing US Geography: A Book of Answers for Kids

The book shows maps, and goes state-by-state and gives a description of each one.

青森 was just an example. 全都道府県！

Maybe this book?

Or this one? (でも本のないが見えません。。。)

Those 2 books which you checked are reference books for “National Center examination for University Admissions”, those might work, but objectives of those might be bit different from your purpose.
And The one which I recommended was also too maniac, also (^_^;)

The problem of “Amazon”,
if we put a key word ”geography（or 地理）”, this shows tons of books,
and “Amazon” ‘s recommendation are almost reference books for above exam.

OK, I will try to find another method with your choice (like The New brbrbr)

And another problem is that “Look inside function” does not apply to many of Japanese book.

But I want to tell you some key words for your interesting.

47都道府県
As you may know, Japan can be subdivided into 47 districts,
this means 1都+1道+2府+43県=47都道府県.
Sometime, we use this expression for representing every prefecture of Japan, instead of saying whole Japan.

県民ショー
This is the title of Japanese TV show. This TV show introduces the novel and interesting (sometime strange) custom of each region of Japan. You might check “youtube” or “niconico video” by using this word

PS How is Gulf of Mexico? Is there still BP problem?
