I'm working on a assignment for my Japanese lessons and can't figure out the red marked hiragana character. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply and your suggestion I checked the characters on this site, my lesson book and the software Ikana before posting this question. It seems to be ra, ro or ru, but none of these make sense when I try a translation.

It can be tricky at first!
