Re: 8.9 Magnitude hits Japan (Miyagi Prefecture)
As far as I've heard the earthquake injury count is fairly low so far.
I'm worried about the storms hitting now too.
Here is some live coverage on the ordeal ( in japanese )

I'm watching it on the news. The Tsunami is huge and OMG, it's so scary. The Tsunami is set to head as far south as Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and even the northern tip of New Zealand. Some of the small atolls in the Pacific may be completely wiped out.
I hope all our TJP friends and families are ok.

I heard it reported that there were only three dead but watching footage of the tsunami washing away buildings and vehicles I can't see it staying low.
My thoughts are with all those affected.
Don't complain to me that people kick you when you're down. It's your own fault for lying there

I read the latest news from my country (Not sure how accurate it is) Authority confirm at least 32 killed in this disaster.
My thoughts are with the family and people in Japan.

Re: 8.9 Magnitude hits Japan (Miyagi Prefecture)
Watching BBC world news, and it just said there were 90 deaths confirmed.
Also, Hawaii has been hit by the first waves of the tsunami...
Seems Japan is having the most problems with the nuclear plants.

Re: 8.9 Magnitude hits Japan (Miyagi Prefecture)
If you continue to watch the news Dustin linked to, death toll has increased to more than 200 as search and rescue teams get to the affected areas. Terrible sight aftershock could be seen, and people in some places started to walk home, streets jammed, ships swept away ...
I'm praying for people who are affected by this monster earthquake, and I hope to hear from our TJP members living in Japan. I hope everyone is alright.

Re: 8.9 Magnitude hits Japan (Miyagi Prefecture)
Thank you everyone.
That was quite intense even in the center of Tokyo. At the moment, the transportation system still seems to have been paralyzed. But I didn’t see any terrible confusion in the city. The catastrophic damages seem to be concentrated in the coastline area.

Thank you NileCat for updating us.
I too feel heartbroken watching the news footage of the destruction... especially the tsunami.. it's just so terrible to watch as it sweeps over everything with such speed and power.

Dustin pointed out that there is a live feed of the NHK coverage available at http://ustre.am/npvD
Best of luck to everyone there.

It is 3:50 AM.
This is horrible.
The damage of Tohoku district is devastating.
The number of the victims would double tomorrow.
We have a very strict regulation for the earthquake-resistant structure of the buildings. But it can’t resist tsunami. This is a nightmare.

Man, It's really hard and sad to look at what's happening in Japan, it just makes people want to something to help others in need in those kinds of situations. I Having that feeling right now of wanting to help out others.
