In case some of you haven't seen it yet, there is a Google Input Method Editor for Japanese. Works on both Windows and Mac. Demo video here:

I installed this last night. :) I'll try to remember to post back with my impressions on it. :D

I wasn't exactly a "power user" of the IME to begin with, so I don't know how much I could say that would be of use. ;)

magic! :colonthree:
thank you!

EDIT: my impressions

the suggestions are way smarter than IME, that gives you 40 characters to the name Akira, while google jp input gives you more than 100!
Also, you don´t have to change everytime input options (一般/人名/地名/話し言葉) because it gives you all the character suggestions at the same time.
Type かおもじ and you'll have a bunch of them at hand, as when you type きごう in IME.

sorry for the useless remarks.

I don't particularly like it. MS IME tends to offer better suggestions for my purposes. For instance, I typed どうしたほうがいい and its first suggestion was 同した方がいい. I mean, 同? Seriously? MS IME would never make that mistake.

It may however come in handy if I have to type a lot of Kansai-ben or something, though.
