Terribly confused :S
There is a phrase stuck in my head but I have no idea where it's from and what it means... for some reason my gut feeling tells me it means something on the lines of "hold your hand out" ...but Im not sure why I think that XD please help me... i might have written it wrong...so sorry if it is so...
The sentence is...
てはをだして or てをだして ...not sure of the spelling...

手を出して (てをだして) looks good to me!

I'll just add, it's a more common, generally useful phrase in Japanese than its English equivalent.
For example, in the book "Reading Japanese With A Smile" (a collection of short stories in Japanese), there's a story where a woman is saying it to herself (「これは手を出さないわね!」) as she hungrily eyes her mother-in-law's box of donuts.
