Greetings all. After long days of searching i have finaly come across this magnificent site.I never thought that so many of us gajin take intrest in nihongo just for the love of the culture or the languege it self. Apperantly i was mistaken:D. Any ways the name is Ilya i'm 16 years old and i currently live in israel thou originaly i come from russia. Currently i managed to master the kanas and now i'm in the process of building up my vocab and grammar. Well it looks like i have plently of work cut out for me

Goals:
1) Have decent proficiency in Japanese, enough to get around/talk/read/write.
2) Visit Japan for a week or so one summer.

Okay so I'm new and I 'm kinda lost. What should you look at first? Vocab or speaking or writting, I've only taken french before but I really like Japanese (the culture not just anime). Anyone have a plan?

Well according to what i read here the best way to start is to learn hirgana and then
katakan and after that build up your vocab and grammar while learning 2/3 kanji per day or as much as you are comfortable with.
