Audio file
Could anyone tell me if I can upload audio files in the forum?
In the “Lessons” section, it has audio guidance like this:

I think it would be good if I can make this kind of link in the forum to explain pronunciations. Is it possible? Or is it technically impossible?
I know I can make a link to YouTube. Is there any website that I can use like an audio version of YouTube?
I'd appreciate any information.
Thank you.

Re: Audio file
hrm, I totally missed this post when you first posted it.
Actually, looking into this it appears that we can already do this!
Here's some examples of what you can already do...
(You'll have to do a "view source" on the page to see what the actual audio file is for that particular audio sample... makes it a little trickier, but totally doable.)

- Code: Select all
[flash=225,24]http://thejapanesepage.com/audio_files/player.swf?playerID=1&soundFile=/audio_files/kana/groups/kakikukeko.mp3[/flash]

Re: Audio file
Thanks, phreadom.
Since I’m an idiot when it comes to technical things, can you tell me how I can “upload?” the mp3 file?
All I can understand is:
1. I can copy and paste the “code” you showed me (flash~/flash)
2. I can type the name of my mp3 file instead of “kakikukeko.mp3” in the code
3. I guess I have to upload the target mp3 file somewhere. The “upload attachment” gives me back “The extension mp3 is not allowed”.
4. I know some “uploader websites”, however, none of them seems to be able to keep the data for a long time
My question might sound too stupid, I'm afraid….

Re: Audio file
Hrm... if you sent me the files, I could stick them in /audio_files/nilecat/ here on TJP or something, so you could use /audio_files/nilecat/whatever.mp3 with the player code... like
I don't know of any easy places to upload audio for linking to otherwise...
