What does this mean..?
Konnichiwa,
I am learning basic verbs, and current verb is : ききます ... (listen, hear)
I found a sample sentence: でんしゃ の なかで cdを ききます。
I tried to dissect this as:
Densha-no naka-de cd-o kikimasu...
I have found out that Densha means electric, and no is the particle showing ownership, then cd-o means CD is the object in the sentence, naka-de means by means of or event occuring at ... something called naka, which am unable to find...
What is naka , and please help me with the meaning of this sentence.
P.S.: Google Translator says for this: Listen to the cd's in electricity. This translation makes no sense...
Regards,
Nikhil

Re: What does this mean..?
I believe what it's saying is this:
電車 の 中 で CD を 聞きます
でんしゃ の なか で CD を ききます
でんしゃ = (electric) train
の is the possessive particle here
なか means "in"
and で is the "place where something happens"
So it's saying "densha no naka de" = "taking place at the train's inside"... or just more simply "in the train"...
and "CD o kikimasu" is just to listen to the CD...
So you're listening to the CD in the train.

I think you've mixed up "densha" and "denshi". (To be more precise, "denshi" means "electron", but "denshi" is used as a prefix for "electric" and "electronic", e.g., denshi jisho = electronic dictionary; denshi renji = electric range (i.e. microwave)).

Thanks for the information. Does this word densha here means "an electric train". I mean is train an understood assumption or this word means a train literally...
@furrykef
Thanks for the insight, indeed I didn't know the difference between the two. But now, WAKATA..!
