I understand that I have used the on-yomi meaning for 'tsu'.

Whenever its referring to a name, I should use the kun-yomi meaning, but not the on-yomi meaning, yes?

I think names are usually read with the kun-yomi reading if they originated in Japan. The meaning of the kanji stays the same regardless of its pronunciation.

But the thing with names is that they are more prone to variation, some names can be read in various ways and some can be assigned different meanings.
