Well it depends what you mean with contractions but please not that.
I can summarize both mine and mike cash's combined answers, any error or inaccuracy that would not generally be considered cute when spoken by a near infantile child, was and always will be on the list of pet peeves. everything else depends on factors that depend on what sort of potential peeve one is talking about.

「wrong」は副詞じゃない形容詞ですが、「spell」は名詞じゃない動詞ですから、文法的に合いません。
「wrongly」は正しいですが、昔の感じだから、「incorrectly」のほうがいいと思います。

Wierd, I had to look up wrongly and make sure it was a real English (American) word. It has gone the way of "thou" considering that I'm almost 40 now and that was the first time I've seen it used, and I read a lot.

だから、「昔の感じ」と言って置きましたね。
It's not quite as far gone as 'thou', but I think it faded out in the early twentieth century. You just need to read more classics.

I admit using a little hyperbole. Thou should come back, I'd much rather we brought back thou for a you singular than start with all the yous for you plural. But it's looking like yous for a you plural and making you singular is the trend. Yous guys know what I mean?
