unsure meaning

so one of my vocab word from Jlpt 3 portion of my studies bring me to the word 対象（たいしょう）which gave the vague definition of the following:(noun,adj-no) target; object (of worship, study, criticism etc.); subject (of taxation, etc.), subject matter, objective. i looked up some example sentence but my mind is kind of a blur.

any help guys would be much appreciated.

Basically it means 'object' in the sense of '(the) object (of)', not in the sense of a physical thing.

In grammar, it means the grammatical 'object'. In other uses, it is usually emphasizing that something is in some general sense the object of a verb. Hence the multiple translations 'target, object, subject'.

In English, we've stretched the meaning of several words to cover this concept as a tertiary meaning for each of them, but in Japanese there's a word that means that concept and just that. (As such, you will not find a 'right' English equivalent.)

i have not looked at that, wow that really clears things up a bit, According to what you've shown me and the jim breen exaample it seems to be used at lot with になる (become) and とする (assumeing).
