けど sketchin me out

Postby QuakerBits » Sun 04.08.2012 7:41 pm

hihi. thanks guys for the answer on my previous post(:

So, I was looking back at some notes earlier, and noticed a sentence that threw me off a bit.

お金がなったら、車を買うんですけど
My translation: If I had money, however, I would buy a car.

since there's んです, then I'd probably be saying that because I really need a car of something, I think.

Anyways, not sure if my use of けど is right... but just to be safe from any confusion... :ninja:

It's best to think of んです (Or のです) as explanatory.

'If I had the money, I would buy a car though.'

I think your translation is spot on, but the Japanese sentence you wrote says お金がなかったら (if I didn't have money.) 'however' works well here as a translation of 'kedo'
なぜなら、おまえは・・・・・・人形だ
