Genki Ch. 6. Any thoughts on this conversation?
Hi guys,
Currently on Genki Chapter 6. As the review exercises don't have answers because they involve partner work (I don't have a partner!), I was wondering if someone could help me out and tell me if I've written this correctly.
The situation is
Partner A has a date tomorrow and wants to borrow Partner B's car. Partner B's car is brand new and he doesn't want anyone to use it.
Here's what I wrote:
A) すみません。くるまをかりてもいいですか。
B) くるまですか。どうして。
A) あしたはデーイですから。
B) ども、くるまがかりてはいけません。くるまをあたらしいから。
I think it's mostly there but should the が in the final sentence be を or should there be no particle?
Not a 100% certain about my conjugated verbs in the first and last line either.
Cheers,
Rich.

Anyone, please correct me if I say something wrong here
Did you mean "date"? If so, you're last character was incorrect: デート
I'm not sure where you got those particle ideas from...
Also just wondering if you are aware that you dropped the politeness level on あたらしいから。 As it's a seperate sentence, you would use ですから to maintain politeness.
くるまをかりてはいけません。くるまはあたらしいですから。
Lastly it's a little odd to mention the car by name twice in quick succession. It would be more natural to say,
あたらしいから、くるまをかりてはいけません。

Hi,
Yeah, デーイ was a mistyping.
Thanks for pointing out the particles. I suspected they were wrong. Shall have to look over them again!
I also thought it was a bit unnatural to repeat car twice in quick succession. Didn't realise it was ok to use から in the middle of the sentence.
Thanks for your help,
Very much appreciated.

That's not your fault; I forgot that Genki doesn't teach you that until lesson 9. I think it's a little weird that they didn't just teach it with から in lesson 6.
