Trying to I.D. Possible Carved Artist Hand Stamp

Postby purveyorium » Wed 10.03.2012 5:19 pm

This wood hand stamp has a carved bottom with "R.B.S." below several glyphs. The top of the handle has a single glyph. I am not sure if its an artist stamp used to sign a work of art or some type of seal used for business purposes.

photo 1: I can't identify the kanji on the left and right, the middle one is probably 羅 (pronounced 'ra')

photo 2: 上 (pronounced 'ue')

Sorry not much help

I'm not sure but photo 1 might be:
洸羅濟

This form of these kanji is called 篆書 てんしょ.
The kanji order could be from right to left, if this stamp follows in the old format.

I guess it's Chinese person's name stamp with alphabet of each kanji pronunciation.
R. B. S is different from initials of Japanese pronunciation of these three. In Japanese Ko, Ra and Sai/Sei respectively.
