Tanabata festival

Postby ebear215 » Sun 01.15.2006 12:50 am

Im trying to write a little story just for fun and I need to know as much about the Tanabata festival as possible. I've already done a lot of research and know about the bamboo wishes and the story about the stars crossing the milky way. But I want to know about all the activiteis and events they have during the festival.

Like what do they sell? Some traditional foods? Do they show fireworks? What are your best expirences?

all the sites I've been to are telling me the same stuff. But I want to get some information from someone who has actually been there. :)

thanks a lot!

Why do you think we'd tell you anything different than the sites who are telling you "the same stuff"?

Like tony said, I doubt we can give you anything that you haven't heard from numerous sites already. Also, the content of tanabata festivals (hell, all festivals) depends greatly on the area in which they are held, as each has their own traditions. Tanabata is even celebrated on different days in different parts of Japan.

I'm looking mostly at the festival in Tokyo. The other sites don't really tell me much about food and what the festivals sell in general. All they talk about the bamboo wishing and the story that goes along with the festival.
To me it just feels like theres a lot of other stuff in the festival they're not mentioning.
