GREAT kana practise website
to study kana:
http://www.kanacards.com/kanacards.swf
you can select from katakana or hiragana, and either practise with the sites pre-made flashcards or quiz yourself on them. its a simple website and works great.

RE: GREAT kana practise website
amathyst: i have been looking for that site forever -- thank you so much for sharing it with me! i found it once and then lost it ...
tokyoroze: the vowels are always the bases:
A I U E O
and then you have compound words: you add "ya" "yu" and "yo" when you have, for example:
hi + ya (when the "ya" symbol is smaller than the "hi" symbol) and it = "hya"
and then using the bases and all of the other vowels, k, d, t, etc, you get "ka" "de" "to" and so forth.
its basically like a fill in multiplication chart:
A I U E O (heres one example row with "k"):
k ka ki ku ke ko
hope that helps!
tzkun: thank you for sharing these with me!! i really appreciate it.

I highly recommend the "learn kana" program available here at TJP (http://thejapanesepage.com/downloads.php?cat_id=1 -- bottom link).
(oh, and if anybody knows what the "get kana" function is, or how it works, please let me know.)

Before I found TJP, I used learn-japanese.info to learn Kana. I find TJP more satisfying.
