We (the admins) make decisions which we believe would be in Clay's interest. Try to understand that, just for once.
You can make all the decisions you want. But when you make things disappear without giving a reason for it, be prepared for confusion and an angry response. Censoring content that isn't explicit or pornographic and not telling anyone (or at least the author) 'sounds stupid to me.'
Even zengargoyle told him to just try again because it might have been a mistake. It's common courtesy for someone to be NOTIFIED that the deletion was intentional. The admins LACKED that courtesy, and follow up by saying his suspicion 'sounds stupid'.
Try to understand that the community here expects as much respect and courtesy as you (the admins) do, just for once.

I agree with mandolin.
I think this is offensive.
Let's see the 3rd rule from "Please read before posting!" page:
And this page is surprisingly moderated by Daisuke too.

I excuse that I did not notify the poster. I was very busy last night, so when the admin who deleted the thread showed me it, I read through it and found it best deleted.
The admins LACKED that courtesy, and follow up by saying his suspicion 'sounds stupid'.
What sounded stupid to me was his comment, that this thread would most likely be deleted and admins were *fun* that way. I never said he could not ask for the thread. Again, I excuse that I did not notify the poster and I admit, I made a mistake.

I don't care if I have your respect or not. I could honestly not care less about what you think of me Mandolin. So now you can focus on your own understanding.

So saying that a single comment is 'stupid' is offensive? Well, then Mandolin just broke the rule as well in his/her post above. Yay, we are both rule breakers.. So where do you want to go with that? As I said above, it seems like Mandolin misunderstood my use of 'stupid'.And this page is surprisingly moderated by Daisuke too.
Well, that's your opinion. My opinion could be: This page does surprisingly have a member called amego (& mandolin).. I don't need you to like the person I am, and I am sure it is the same the other way around. I do my job.

RE: Disappearing posts
Of course, THIS thread will probably end up deleted, too. Moderators are *fun* that way.
I don't think any of us admins have a sense of humor that bad.
I'm not at all trying to be conflictive or anything, but... what exactly are Clay's interests? If it's all for Clay, why was this board created? Is that information written anywhere?
Clay just wants this place to be useful for everyone of all ages. It's kind of bad to ask why this board was created, seeing as it has helped so many people. It could hurt Clay's feelings, too. It would have hurt mine. Hope you understand why there are certain restrictions around here, it helps to make sure that explicit stuff isn't posted here.
not to mention, there've been way worse topics than THAT on here that didn't get deleted....
Mandolin, I do agree with alot of what you say. It's great to see that you are helping to keep this place running smoothly, your help is really appreciated. Thanks. But I would also like to know which threads you are talking about, that were not deleted?
Amego: The actual statement can be classed as "stupid", although maybe that was not the right word to be used. Daisuke didn't at all say that anything else CDarklock said was stupid. It was just what that sarcasm was implying that could irritate a moderator who is just trying to keep this place clean.

I am the one that deleted the post of yours.
I am sorry that I just deleted it, instead of just give it a comment and close it.
I found your post not suitable for this site. So you got my appologize on just deleting it instead of closing it with a comment.
Now, lets consider this as the end of this discussion.

Exactly, that's what I was getting at. The board is here for everyone's benefit, as a public service so to speak. That's why it kind of bugged me when it was said that admins "make decisions which we believe would be in Clay's interest" instead of "make decisions to create a community that will benefit everyone and not be detrimental."
Anyway, I personally think the material presented in the thread before the off-topic discussion started is fine. I don't know about the orginal thread, but this one seems okay. If anyone here is too young to understand what we're talking about, then I'll explain.... "Seal the deal" means to get married.

"Clay's interest" is for us to make decisions to create a community that will benefit everyone. But oh well..

"Seal the deal".
If this was what he was trying to say in his post, he wrote it in a very odd way for sure. That was not how i understood his post.

"Closing the deal", sorry.
I don't quite get what you mean. Whose post? The original poster? What was he trying to say? Well, doesn't really matter, looks like he's not hanging around here anymore anyway...

What a fine example of how to handle this situation. Accept responsibility, apologise, and explain.
Zeo, no matter what I might think about you deleting my original thread, I applaud your response to this one. Thank you. More moderators throughout the web should be following your lead.
But why did you consider the post inappropriate? Surely, as an adult, I should be expected to have some interest in the subject; in Japan, the national age of consent is thirteen last I checked (although most prefectures raise it to sixteen or eighteen), so most of the people in this forum would be of legal age in Japan. If they actually visit, I would expect that most of them would encounter a scenario or two where an understanding of real-world Japanese sexuality would be helpful. What exactly is it about the post that struck you as inappropriate for the forum?

RE: Disappearing posts
I think the key of it is many people feel that there should be parental controls on internet content so their children are not exposed to certain elements of society who would use the internet to take advantage of them. Because of that, most of the understood rules on accessing certain materials are that those that should be allowed to see/read certain topics should be over a certain age. But because, as you pointed out, there are many different "appropriate ages" depending on the culture of where you live, if it generally assumed that to see that type of material you should be of the appropriate age in ones locality. So just because the age of consent may be lower in Japan it doesn't mean that it is deemed appropriate for children that young in Washington or North Carolina. Since there are no warnings on this site that there may be "adult" or "mature" themes discussed, I consider it poor form to discuss those topics no matter what the gray area is. And this is not limited to sexuality, either. There are no forums in here which discuss other graphic "mature" topics such as Japanese atrocities in China.
The bottom line is, it's the administrators' forum. They ultimately get to decide the appropriateness of a post, and if it is in their judgement inappropriate, then so be it. Delete the post/ ban the user, whatever. It's their forum, so it's their decision. You can flame all you want that administrators need some "level of courtesy" to alert you of deleted posts/whatever, but more than that you as a poster have to respect a certain "level of courtesy" in your posts in their forum.
To go along with that, I seriously doubt that the age of consent is thirteen. In the paper it said there was a man arrested the other day for abusing a 15 year old. Secondly, there is strict censorship of pornographic material in Japan. I'm not just talking about images, either. Words are often censored with the risque words being replaced with maru maru (basically some zeros). So regardless of any legal 'consent' age, inappropriate posts on topics deemed inappropriate by the admins should be dealt with by the admins.

OMG, lock this thread already...
If you want to diddle 13 year old girls (boys?!) don't come sniffing around here for them....or for information on how to get them in Japan...You know what, just go the hell away.
I didn't read your original post and I don't CARE...from what you've said in this thread I can understand why it was deleted.
I may sound rude, but every couple of months (weeks?!) there's someone on here asking "How do I score with chicks in Japan?"....I'm just sick of it....go away.
