Japan --> Britain
OK so I know this forum is dominated by Americans and other Asians but as a Briton I was wondering what the Japanese feel towards Britain, through previous wars, industries, cutures, etc.

I think, Japanese people are usually having good feeling against U.K.
Especially, English fashion has affected on Japan fashion mode...
If you come to see HARAJUKU street, you may wonder why many Japanese young people are cheerfully wrapped in Union Jack.
Um....And, the influence of previous wars is very very small. I have never found friend who hate U.K.
Don't care of it!
and Enjoy Japan!;)

I may have been in error about this, but this struck me at first as not a "culture & living in Japan" issue so I moved it to Off Topics.

Um... outside of WW2 (by alliance) there haven't been any major conflicts.

Admiral Nelson was Admiral Togo's personal model. Also, Britian was the dominant sea power for many years and Briton and Japan interacted a lot ever since.

So long as you're not Russian (a large number of Russians here are prostitutes and thus a bad name) or don't look overly Asian, there's very little overt resentment towards you (in my experience, but it's not the case for everybody and depends on where you are).

T_T I look Asian cuz I'm half filipino....I even have ching ching eyes (ching ching for lack of a better word xP ) and I'm foreign exchanging my junior year...maybe sooner ^_^
Um...well the only time I can think of that Britian has crossed paths with Japan is during World War 2...but other than that I don't think so. Britain was too busy fighting France to look at east Asia...xP 100 year war...French revolution...

I really spoke more than I should have, I'm just going by what I've heard as I'm not of Asian decent. The people I've known here that are say they tend to feel that non-Asain decent people (ie white and black) get different treatment. Being white, I don't know. And it won't be bad at all.
