Memoirs Movie

I am not sure if this is off-topic, so I put it here to be safe.**

Okay, I've read the book Memoirs (sp?) of a Geisha, and absolutley fell in love. But I a not sure if I want o see the movie. Can anyone tell me if it is worth it?

I would rather have root canal with a hand-held Dremel drill and a cold chisel and no Novacaine than see "Memoirs of a Geisha."

How's that for a historian's take?

Uhm...thank you. Is it really that bad...I mea...besides a chinese cast in a Japanese movie...

Everything I've read about it is barfworthy.

Of course, if you only know >abit< about Japanese history and Japan, you might like it.

I heard it was a good movie, but it had many mistakes (cast history acuracy).
if you dont mind that it would be a good movie, however if you like history you will most likely hate it.

Has there ever been a movie about that actually is correct? They are all dressed up and/or changed to be more cinemagraphic(sp?). So dont take anything you see in the cinema as fact.

ps... Especially Last Samurai, it lasted 40 seconds before making a complete tits up.

Well to be fair, I thought the set design was amazing for actually not leaving America. And...you know...Zhang Ziyi is really attractive--despite not actually being Japanese.

I love statements like this.

I visited China on a tour from Japan (and so there were Japanese people with us). We went to some goverment-run store of some sort, and there a Chinese employee asked one of the Japanese girls "Are you Chinese?" The girl replied "No, I'm Japanese..." and the employee said "Oh, but you're so pretty!"

Ah, so that's the real source of conflict between the Chinese and Japanese! Both countries have tried to copyright beauty, and each consider the other to be in violation of that copyright.

i'm not sure what y'all are talking about but i just start reading the book memoirs and it one of the best books ever read as soon as i finish im going to rent the movie
