It's a trial to read same sentence by teaching each other with other people who have different culture, different career, different time zone.

Wow! I can't believe how wrong I was for Line4, but anyway here's my translation for Line5. I think I know where this story's going now.

Oooo, for those unsure about the first part, I think it would be much easier if it were in kanji instead of hiragana.

I agree with you.
どうしていいか分からなかったので、躊躇いがちに「まあまあだよ」と答えました。
is easier to search. we hardly use 躊躇いがち though.(means NOT using 漢字).That is also one of the reasons why books for child are not so easy.(in my thought)

Actually, for the ためらい, the hiragana is easier to look up in my dictionary than the kanji. But for that first part, I was thinking some of the earlier posters would have been helped by having kanji because then they could separate the string of hiragana into its separate words. They seemed to have the most difficulty with that part, especially if they read the vocab spoiler...

That said, I hope that adding the kanji doesn't make it too easy. And I agree that kids books are difficult because they've got long strings of hiragana that many of us can't separate easily. I'm reading about 鶴の恩返し and I wish it had more kanji.

Having some trouble with the "ためらいがちに"-part. I know what it means, i just don't know what the "がち" does.
Also, the very beginning, the "どうしていいか", im not quite clear on. Someone care to help?
(By the way, do i have to apply for this again, since im not on the list in the first post by coco?)

Man, this one is messing me up completely! I can't seem to translate the first part of the sentence. Here's the jibberish I have at the moment,

[spoiler] Why, [ (いいからなかつたので） ]<=I have no Idea what that says, so I hesitantly replied, "so-so/or I'm doing alright".

I would assume that いいからなかつたので might translate to something along the lines of how are you doing?[/spoiler]

I'm gonna have to go back and check out everyone else's translation and wait for groups B and A to fully translate this one.

Edit: Rael thats a good question. I'm not on the list anymore either. But I guess it really doesn't matter, I'll just keep posting anyway.
