RE: "sou yuu koto" and "dou yuu koto"
It's actually:
Sou iu koto
and
Dou iu koto
Sou iu koto means,like..."The thing which is being talked about."
I want to go to the party.
>You can't do that, because you have not done your homework.
Pa-te ni ikitai.
>Anata wa mada shukudai wo shite inai kara, sou iu koto dekinai.
"sou" confirms something, and "dou" is the question form of it... sort of. So, you can guess what that means.

RE: "sou yuu koto" and "dou yuu koto"
sou by itself can also mean "it is so." It's by pure coincidence that it's the same in English, so it's easy to remember. (EX: sou da - it is so).

"sonna koto" means "such a thing" or "a thing like that". Sometimes it is used in surprise, like English "What a ... !!!"
