Mukade-san, if you can record some sound files, I will be happy to post it here if you don't have web space. Just let me know.

Yep, got mine as well. Should work well here to go through and read along with everyone, looking forward to it.

My book still isn't here--perhaps it will arrive today. If not, I'll contact WWP and find out what's up... since it's been about 2 weeks. ): Y'all can get started on a story if you like, and I'll just catch up. (:

Been over 2 weeks for me, too... what's been the average delivery time?

The first few people got it in a week - maybe White Rabbit Press had to restock it?

Go figure, mine arrived yesterday. ^_^ I guess I just needed to complain about it in a post to make something happen. Heh.

I got mine in a few days ago. I guess it took a little over a week to get here in Florida.
How many people are still waiting?
Max told me they were out of stock and will order 5 more, but that just happened maybe 2 days ago.

i'm all for it! i don't know what to think about the levels though.
maybe you should hold off on the levels for a while. just a suggestion though.
i'm still new to all this so you don't need to listen to me.

How are we going to start the reading activities btw ?
That was my question a week ago. I have ホルン and 鉛筆削り typed into files, but for copyright reasons I don't think I should post the whole of either here. Shall I start a thread with my translation of the first paragraph (or the whole of) either story?

Thanks Richvh-san for responding.
I was wondering if all of the them can fully comprehend the stories. For me, I'm lucky enough to havesome friends here to guide me along. But I'm not so sure of others, perhaps as you said, probably a brief translation from each of us might be neccessary, so as to find out our reading level and understanding of the stories.
But, yet to find out from others. Let's wait for their opinion, Rich-san ?

RE: Reading Club
So does everyone have the book now? I was thinking we could all read the first passage (ホルン) and just start by posting the sentences that we didn't understand / thought were odd turns of phrases, etc. Then others could give their comments/translations for those passages.
What does everyone think?

RE: Reading Club
Sounds like a good idea. I think most everyone but the late comers have their books.
The one word I couldn't look up was ぱらり in this sentence: それを解けば人生が何もかもぱらりとわかってしまうような謎が。 It was described to me by my current penpal as (going by memory from my translation of his description) "a brief, not strong sound, like of hair falling of its own weight, or paper falling, which denotes a flash of clarity." Phrases I still have trouble understanding clearly are きわめてホルン的な身の上話をした (told an extremely horn-like life story?) and 容貌上のコンプレックス (an inferiority complex over his appearance? How does 上 fit in?)
