can someone check my sig?
can someone check my sig?
Can anyone here check my signature? It's supposed to say "my name is nikku (nick in japanese)" does it? if not, what does it say?
私の名前はニックです

RE: can someone check my sig?
Finally, a question I can answer.
I think it should be: わたし の なまえ わ ニク です

I think it should be: わたし の なまえ わ ニク です

It should say わたし は ニック です or わたし の なまえ は ニック です。 (I am Nick or My name is Nick, respectively.)
(Psst, Takeo-san, particle wa is spelled は, not わ)

Well, the particle "wa" is expressed as は. Everytime.
So, to reiterate...
わたし の なまえ は ニック です。
Or...

There is no particle "ha". The particle is "wa" and it is written as a hiragana "ha" は.nick-san wrote:

The particle は is pronounced "wa." This is the topic/subject particle that you should be using in that sentence. There is also a particle わ, but it only appears at the end of the sentence, and is mostly used in feminine speech.

Well, here in the Kansai area, the sentence-final わ is not considered feminine.
Conversely, the formation しちゃった (shortened from してしまいました) is considered effeminate.

You normally put english (or another language in general) in Katakana so people know it's a borrowed word.nick-san wrote:

わたし の なまえ ニック です。 Watashi no namae Nikku desu - My name is nick.
わたし は ニック です。 Watashi wa Nikku desu - I am Nick.
You can just type "Niku" or "nikku" and it will come up as the same thing. Also, I had the same problem when learning hiragana but wa/わ when being used as a grammar particle is typed as ha/は, but when typing わ as part of a word, it can be just typed as わ. The は when used as a particle is still pronounced "wa".
It seems to be a quirky thing with Japanese and I don't know why its like that either, I just do it.

No, it won't. Type "niku" and you get ニク. Type "nikku" and you get ニック.You can just type "Niku" or "nikku" and it will come up as the same thing.
Not if you say it right. In Osaka, it's a falling intonation. The feminine form is a rising tone. Say it right and they'll just think you learned Japanese at Kansai Gaidai.but in tokyo you will sound gay...
