NORI Seaweed :X Its on sushi They put it on EVERYTHING.Even their pizza.YUCK. The pizzas are made on a tortilla like bread then they put cabbage and pork and another piece of tortilla and PAN fry it. Then they put mayonase, seaweed, and these shavings and some other stuff! Yuck :X

I love seaweed. So far i haven't found anything that I don't like. But the city where I live has a very limited japanese menu. :(

Stay away from Sea Urchin and Shirako (Cod Sperm). I also gotta agree with the pizza thing. Though, not okonomiyaki. I love okonomiyaki. I really like monjayaki (sp?), even with the fish flakes. It's just that in Japan they put mayonaise on everything, especially western style pizza. Just look at a menu from a Japanese Domino's. It's interesting to have squid or octopus on a pizza, but so often they put mayo on it, too. Yuck! It's also common as a 'dressing' for salads and as a condiment for other foods. NASTY!!! I also have to agree with those of you who don't like seaweed, though I don't really mind when it's on nigiri or sushi rolls because it's still kinda small. I just really don't like seaweed salad. And I know I posted this in the other thread, but raw liver and chicken cartilidge that you get at yakitori places are nasty, too.

Oh, and of course natto. Not much taste, but DO NOT LET YOUR ROOMMATE COOK THE STUFF!!! YOUR PLACE WILL SMELL AWFUL!!! It's worse than microwaving collard greens....

What I haven't been able to stomach is odori ebi.

You know, "dancing shrimp."

Three guesses what that means....and when you figure it out, I'm sure you'll agree with me that it's stomach-churning. :o

It wouldn't come from an animal's...parts, would it? I've got a vivid imagination as to what it is.

Sheesh! Maybe "overactive imagination" is a little more like it.

Might we even say...すけべ? :o

Anyways, no, it's nothing quite so gruesome as Rocky Mountain Oysters (I can't believe I've managed to choke those down).

"Odori Ebi" are still-living shrimp which you peel (still living), pop into your mouth (still living) and chew (still, well, mostly-living by this point).

I'm glad I tried it so I can say I've done it, but I'm also glad I've tried it so I can say "NO!" the next time someone asks if I want it.
