Help! レ・ミゼラブル
Sorry, I posted this in the wrong spot somehow!
Hi, I am now and just got interested in Japanese.
I received Les Mis in Japanese ( レ・ミゼラブル ) (love it). Not knowing Japenese, I was looking for it in romaji online - however can't find it becasue I am having trouble transfering it.
If you think you can help, let me know. I can scan some of it for you.
Here's one of the songs.
この家の主
Would it be Kono ya no... ?
thanks

この家の主 - yes....oops...
I think it is Kono ie no su
Here's some more I tried:
らつしゃい この町一番の宿屋へ
Ra tsu shi ya i Kono machi ichi ban no yado ya he
多に <---Actual characters (not full)
Me e ta ni <---It sounds like he says that
There's one more character before the "ta" (多) - it seems to make a "me" sound - but I couldn't find it in this sites kanji guide.

らつしゃい この町一番の宿屋へ

Close. It should be read as kono ie no nushi.

Rasshai is a common greeting from a store owner to a patron. It's the shortened form of Irasshaimase. The つ here should be written small, as it's acting as a glottal stop. You will often see it written large in older texts, but if that were the case here, the ゃ from しゃ would be written large, as well.
So, new texts:
らっしゃい
Older texts:
らつしやい

Kono machi ichi ban no yado ya he
この町一番の宿屋へ = kono machi ichiban no yado ya e
I don't know about the romaji convention for this last particle (or if there is one), but since へ is acting as a particle in this instance, remember it's actual pronunciation is e.

滅多に = mettani -> "rarely"
The first character is 滅 = "metsu," "to destroy" or "to extinguish."

滅多にいねえよ 俺のような 土は
Mettani i ne e yo Ore no yo u na tsuchi wa
I am not sure how the romaji is split up.
Now, there is a figure missing between the な and 土. I think it makes some sort of shi sound...not too sure though. It may be more advanced (can't find it int he kanji dictionary here.
The print is small so I will try to describe the right side - which looks like 中, but the box is longer with another horizontal line in it.
I know, I don't have any idea what's going on....
P.S. - all that I'm doing is based on my ear, the booklet with the lyrics, and this site...
Also: sounds like this: Sho chi ki de
Then there are three characters, a kanji and 値で
(excpet in the book, the ten-ten are above the て...?)
Also,
まつとうで
Ma tsu to u de...?
Also, can the つ be silent? It sounds like "ma to u de"
