Yeah don't worry about anything else until you learn hiragana and katakana. After that learn a mix of grammar and everyday vocabulary... how to tell time, say where things are, and basic verbs for things you do... eat, sleep, do, write, learn...
This will at least give you the abililty to carry out a basic conversation. After that, learn whatever you think will help you next! Clay has a great site! Most of all, if you find it fun it will be MUCH easier to learn.
Ganbatte! (Good luck.)

After you learn hirgana and katakana try to read everything in japanese with those characters so you practice them. Stay away from learning with roman-ji or western writing. IMO

romaji, is western characters. Like writing konnichiwa (romaji) instead of こんにちは (hiragana)
[EDIT]: Konnichiwa = 'Hello'

I couldn't find the Katakana on this site either, but I found someplace that did.

I don't think Clay is done with the katakana pages yet. He's busy with the kanji pages.

Theres a Katakana page on this site.
http://www.thejapanesepage.com/readarticle.php?article_id=5
Its not as in-depth as Hiragana page is though.

RE: Where to start
It's not bad, but I still prefer how this site offers more information on characters and provides audio samples and tests.
