Former owner of Amityville house has died
I am not sure if this thread will be viewed as too far off-topic, but I figure that if a thread about American slang can get away with existing (no offense, Machina Maw-chan!), this will be fine.

Sad, isn't it? He was only 59 years old.

You never saw the Amityville Horror movies or read the book? You should check them out; they're pretty good.
And thanks for the info on the tiny link thing!

The book was the best thing, in my opinion. The 1979 movie was awesome, too. Although I must confess, I have never seen the 2005 remake. But stay away from Amityville 3D; that one sucks. Amityville 2: The Possession is alright... It seems like half the population likes it and the other half doesn't. I found it ok, but it wasn't fantastic. And a lot of the details were screwed up. They didn't even use the name DeFeo, and they stretched the actual events to a ridiculous extent in favor of flashy special effects and dramatic moments. It was alright as a movie, but it stunk as an adaptation of actual events.

The whole thing was a rather well-documented fraud.

Actually the book was based on actual events, but it stretched the truth so much that people started to think it was a hoax. My pre-med teacher lives in Amityville. She said it's a nice place, but it's too quiet. Creepy

I just finished watching the newest movie with one of my friends and based on what I know, it seemed to fit to actual events fairly well and the movie itself was pretty good.

No, I mean the original story was bogus. Total fabrication.

If you are referring to Butch DeFeo being possessed by demons, yes that's untrue. He said so himself. But the murders were very real.AJBryant wrote:
