Poll: Can you see these Avatars?

i can't see them. but i know some other people can... i noticed in the pictures thread that somebody said that somebody else looked like their avatar, then i noticed that i couldn't see the avatar in question.

even though these images have .jpg or .gif extensions, they are not really JPEG or GIF. they are in fact an evil AOL proprietary image format called ART.

i'm not sure, but i think that only people who have AOL installed on their computers can see them, (but maybe Microsoft has a deal with AOL to let IE view them, not sure...). but nobody else can.

if you want some more info about this evil AOL format and how to go about converting the image to a real JPEG or GIF, here are some links:

hrm, I don't have aim or aol installed. I am using IE. I have a few image viewers installed, maybe it autoinstalled an .art plugin.

Strike that. My image viewers are no longer installed, due to HD crash, but my C drive is fine, so maybe a plugin has it working.

i can see it, but am not using aol, however aol was once used on this computer and i have alot of image viewers.

using firefox, i couldn't see them, but when I opened this page with IE I somehow could.....

I don't know what graphic format you're using, but something is weird.

They don't show up in IE, and every time I try to open this page with Netscape (my usual browser), it locks up. That's why I had to go to IE to get this.

Wont show in FF, but when I right click and view image it says ,"No can do, Image has errors."

No AOL installed and I can't see those images in Opera or Firefox. They show up in IE though.

So...did you convert the .art files to gif and then post them? Or did you just rename them?
