Hotaru No Haka
Don't know if this anime had ever been evoked here, it seems not. I don't know the english title (It is "le tombeau des lucioles" in French, maybe "Firefly's tomb").
It is an old one (1988) and the story is about a teenager, Seita, and his little sister Setsuko who lost their mother during a bombing in summer 1945...Seita takes care of his little sister, who's really touching, and they have to survive as they can...
I just watch it yesturday evening and its very very beautiful but....so sad!!!
It give an hard and realistic vision of war...
If I were most sensitive I think I had cried! (Not far from it at the end).
If you hadn't seen it, I really recommend it!
What's your comments about this historical story? Seems to be close to reality about the life condition after bombing...

its called the grave of the fireflies
i saw it a few times. Its one of the best anime ive seen.
it so "realistic" because it is semi-autobiography from the writer akiyuki nosaka

It's the only dipiction I've seen of how terrifying it must have been to witness firebombing during the war.
