Kanji help

Post by I-samu » Sat 06.17.2006 3:56 pm

So, in my Genki Textbook, I got to the first lesson with Kanji.
They seem so complicated, and some even are 3-symbol kanji, like breakfast and dinner.

Are there kanji that I should learn first before proceeding?

Learn the kanji in your current lesson.

That's sound advice.

There's a reason your book presents them in that order. They'll be using them more and more in the lessons, so LEARN the ones they present.

But the Kanji is so complicated.
Shouldn't it introduce 1 kanji words instead of 3 kanji words?

Yeah, I looked at all the kanji before I knew some a while ago and I thought I couldn't ever memorize them, but once you become familiar with the radicals, they're easy to recognize. I learn grade by grade. I'd rather use a text book.

If you're short on cash, Colloquial Japanese is great for someone on a budget.
