It was a pleasure learning from Coco-san & Rich-san in the new chat room.
Today, Coco-san was teaching us 常体 じょうたい and 敬体 けいたい.

(1)
Nature is full of hidden mysteries, however a good pair of eyes are needed to discover and to explore.
大自然界中總是蘊藏著許多的奧秘,但它需要一雙善於發現和探索的眼睛。
大自然は 謎に満ち満ちていますが、その謎に迫るには鋭い観察眼が必要とされます。

Again, another enjoyable lesson with Rich-san and Coco-san.

What we have discussed on the chat room
1)常体 and 敬体 ( how to change "present tense" into "past tense".)
http://www.guidetojapanese.org/polite.html
2)the difference of Japanese phrase "as tiny eggs" using 敬体 and 常体.
3)How do we translate the word "typical" as "A typical time for this process".

Many changes happen to the chrysalis.
The wings, legs and rest of the butterfly are formed inside the chrysalis.
The pupa becomes increasingly transparent as the process progresses.

(6)
Pupa is the last stage before it emerges as a butterfly.
It faces fatal attacks from its predators like birds, dragonflies, spiders, iguanas, lizards, mouse and other animals.
Life can be reduced if the wing scales fall off rapidly. So, children mischievously catching butterfly are shortening its life indeed.
As the pupa is unable to avoid any potential predators, it tends to be quite well camouflaged.

Today me, Zen-san and Tri-san were enjoying ourselves, there, another fabulous lesson from Coco-san.

(5)
After the normal period as a chrysalis has passed, the butterfly will struggle out from the chrysalis. When it has completely separated from the chrysalis, it will eject the liquid from its end of its abdomen. This liquid is the waste accumulated during its chrysalis stage.
蝴蝶會努力地從繭中掙扎出來,當完全脫離時蝴蝶會從腹部的末端排出稱作蛹便的流體,這就是蝴蝶在蛹的時期中所積存的廢物。
一定期間を経た後、透明になったサナギからチョウがようやく現れ、完全に羽化したとき、チョウは腹部にためていた老廃物の体液でハネを膨らませます.

Edit :

(1) While we were discussing about the word "blood", Coco-san found this site 昆虫の体液はふつうは緑色っぽいのですが、チョウの蛹便は、なぜか赤っぽいようです。

(2) 老廃物の体液 - Pending

(3) しばらくすると vs ようやく
Use しばらくすると cannot use ようやく again > beucase both express about time.
example: しばらくするとから現れる or サナギから ようやくチョウが現れ

(4) Thanks Chuchan45-san ^^

Just to recap, this is the original sentence in question (in Chinese):

一條有點醜陋的毛蟲,竟?#22816;變成漂亮的蝴蝶,不禁令人要讚嘆造物者的神奇。

The original English translation was:

A change from a slightly ugly caterpillar to a butterfly is indeed a miraculous creation.

It was realised that this does not match the Chinese version, and since the aim is to stick as close to the Chinese version as possible, this was changed to:

A change from a slightly ugly caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly makes people marvel at the power (lit. wonders) of the creator.

coco's first sentence
少し不格好な毛虫(イモムシ)から美しいチョウへの変化は、人々に天(自然)の力を驚嘆させます。

is a literal translation of the English text. However, it was stated that this is not natural Japanese.

coco's second sentence
私たちは、少し不格好な毛虫(イモムシ)が美しいチョウへ変化するさまを見て、天(自然)の力に目を見張ります。

is what a Japanese would say, without looking at the original text. Below is my attempt to translate it to English:

When we see the transformation of a slightly ugly caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly, we marvel at the powers of nature.

As you can see, this is not the same as the original text, but it sounds better in Japanese.

Reading 李香蘭 私の半生

Please note that:
1. English is not my first language.
2. I am not Japanese. I am prone to making mistakes so please point them out if you see any.
