Japanese Myth and Legend
I'm new to Japanese but not it's mythology so I'd like to hear what others have heard and learned about it. I think Mythology can be the most interesting aspect in any culture, it allows you to see where and what the culture appriciates and grew from in ways of beliefs and behavior.
So add on anything you know about Mythological figures like shinto gods and godesses, legendary creatures, creation myths, legends in general, etc. I'm curious...

Not hard at all, but really, if you're going to bother to post something, why not make it more useful and throw a couple of tags in?

there really is little point to a thread that just has random people posting random tidbits about random myths. Linking to a good source is good for everyone. Having a bunch of random tidbits will just confuse people.

Exactly. Which is why I posted the URL for a website so that people who are interested can go do some research. We've seen how inaccurate some of people's perceptions can be in that king of all infodump threads, "500 facts."

It just shows how something well intended can still be counterproductive. Just treat it as a learning experience. He's not dissing you, just the thread. Don't take it personally.

Actually, not the thread. Just some of the content. Many of the facts are actually quite interesting.

I didnt overreact, you just took the sentence too much I guess.
The thing Tony said came a little harsh to me, but he said why he said it.
Two_heads-san I get this a lot from you that you misunderstand my sentences, so keep in mind that I often dont mean it as serious as it seems

I just have a dim view of infodumps. They're random, there's no quality control, and they're just messy. That's why I tell people who are interested in a subject to get a book and READ about it, rather than asking people to spoon-feed them isolated factoids.
