In my opinion France played better constructed and attacking football, Italy just kept a cool head through the penalties (superb penalties).
And about Zidane... well that is disappointing that he has to retire with that incident hanging over him.

He obviously headbutted Materazzi in retaliation to something he said, just before that Materazzi (playfully?) pinched Zidanes nipple, Zidane smiled at him and walked away but as he was walking away you see Materazzi remark at something, that comment inticed Zidane to retaliate.

A friend and I speculate that the comment could've been about his mother or wife (who is a former model) hence the nipple connection, although this is just a guess I don't see what else could be linked with the "nipple pinch" to make Zinedine Zidane, one of the best and most experienced players the world has ever seen, react in such a way.
