This new chat kinda reminds me of MSN... because you have to add people to talk 2 them... so now im looking for people to add, i guess...

You don't have to add people. There's a room, if you follow the instructions to find it.

Click the actions button and click join a confrence room, obviously you didn't read the instructions.

and you don't even have to add people to chat with them privately (not in chatroom), you just have to know their username.

really, the only thing the buddy list does is:

1) give you something to click on so you don't have to type the other users name.
2) if the other person allows it, the buddy list will show you if the other person is online at the moment, and what their status is (Available, Away, Busy, etc).

other than that, buddy list doesn't do much of anything. you can always chat with whomever you like regardless of whether they are on your buddy list or not.
