"Audition" by Miike Takashi

CRAZY!!! I usually don't like horror films because the outright cheezy ones are just silly and there never are any really scary ones. But oh, my... "Audition" was crazy. I'm not giving anything away, except to say, it's not for the faint of heart (or stomach). I just must say the woman who played the lead did a great job. SO creepy! What's the word for "creepy" in Japanese, anyway? Don't tell me it's one of those "気" constructions. I haven't finished going through all of those yet.

I must say, I'm not a real fan of Miike-San. He seems to be very over-the-top. Films like Ichi the Killer and The Happiness of the Katakuris (I think that's the right title) proves this.

But...

If anyone thinks I should go ahead and get audition, drop me a PM with your film review, but don't give too much away, OK?

When I saw Audition, at first I was like "Eh, this isn't scary at all". In fact the whole movie seems pretty tame, just an odd love story.

Then you see the last 30 minutes and it's like OMFG I CANT SLEEP FOR A WEEK.

I've been trying to see this film for sometime, but if I'm going to watch it I want the un-cut version... unfortunately this version I haven't found for rental.. only purchase... grrr... so I just sit and twidle my thumbs.

Trivia: The dog bowl of vomit fed to Asami's (Eihi Shiina) prisoner is in fact the actual vomit of actress Eihi. 'Takashi Miike' claims that Eihi is a method actress and insisted on doing this.
