P) is a custom smiley that Zen coded in a while back. I guess he didn't add it into the smiley selection list, and I don't remember him adding any others.

i've thought about adding some of the ePLUS smileys that Pandion chat users might be familiar with to give a bit more variety, but i'm sorta on the middle of the fence when it comes to animated gifs in things i'm trying to read.... there's not really anything stopping us from adding more smileys, except for the mis-replacements when you really mean for to be a (:a:b:c:) and not some blinky thing.

maybe go Pandion IM like and do [wink] [bloody_head] [blush] type of emoticons.

i almost added pirate to the smiley list, but i like to keep some easter eggs here and there, and i also don't want lots of 'RdRR' pirates all over the place. P)

I've learned to live with smileys this size (although I prefer text smileys) but for the love of god nothing larger.

Now that we're at it, I've always found the :p smiley kind of evil-looking, so I hardly ever use it.

The is amazing, though; I love the tears coming out.

And I agree, non-animated smileys are better for forums.

Note the period immediately after the smiley. Can't you tweak it so the period doesn't count as whitespace?

that would fix that case, but what if it's a ',' or a ':'? if you go down that path, you end up with very complicated search and replace lists that are run over every post everytime it's displayed... and you'll still have some case where something you didn't want to be a smiley gets turned into a smiley. given the way Fusion does the smileys, it's as good as it's going to get.

indeed... maybe we should implement a pull-down list of more interesting text 顔文字. i sometimes think that going to gifs is a great loss in expressability, from many many ideosyncrasies of meaning to just a handfull of images. ¯\(º_o)/¯
