Oh my, this one is hard to resist. XD

Asagohan wa, nani ga nihon-jin o tabemasu ka? Actually, what's the most natural way to say "what do you eat for breakfast" nihongo de?

Anyway, pilvi-san, I'm sure you meant to say "What do Japanese people eat for breakfast", not "what eats Japanese people for breakfast?" (the answer to that question is, of course, Godzilla).

Heheh :D

I was gonna say something, but you beat me to it, Magma ;)

This link tells a little about Japanese-style breakfast.

I shouldn't have gone to that site, now I'm in the mood for some miso.

Well, in the summer, mosquitos eat Japanese for breakfast.

But, getting back to being serious now, Japanese eat a variety of things for breakfast. The most popular food that I've seen eaten is various types of bread (sweet rolls, cheese bread, etc). That and coffee.

Traditional breakfast, though, is miso soup, rice, and maybe some fish. (It's what you'd be served if you went to a 旅館)

"As for breakfast, what eats Japanese people?"

You're right, that was hard to resist :D

I have a feeling this is wrong- but I'll learn from it.

Pilvi san, don't worry about your mistake. We're all friedly. :D

I'd say natto in breakfast is only in Kanto area including Tokyo. Not in Kansai area at
least.

Here are pretty stereotypic canditates.

- sticky steamed rice
- miso soup of the day (tofu, raddish, seaweed, clam, slimy mushroom etc)
- nori (dried seaweed, dipping with soy sauce)
- pickles (takuan, umeboshi, tsukudani)
- grilled salted salmon (typically but probably not everyday)
- maybe some yesterday's leftover...
- natto in Kanto area

But also the another majority of Japanese eat:

- sliced toast with butter
- hot coffee or milk
- salad and/or fruits and/or yogurt

Rather fewer Japanese will eat:
- corn flakes or another cereal with milk
- salad and/or fruits and/or yogurt

I eat a rice ball while I drive commuting - I drop and buy it in a convinience store...

I think people that work and/or go to school often eat from convenience stores. That's what I do, as do many of the people I know. It's just so convenient.

I don't know how common it is, but once when I went to my friend's house early in the morning his mother had made fried rice. Since fried rice is usally made from leftover rice from the previous night's dinner, I wouldn't be surprised if that were a common breakfast.

朝ご飯は日本人がどんな食べますか
Can donna really modify 食べます? (not sure)

The problem of translating "for breakfast" is starting to bug me. How about asagohan no tame ni, nihon-jin wa nani o tabemasu ka? Hmm sounds weird somehow (but then, I haven't technically learned tame yet.) What about asagohan no toki ni...?

That sounds to much like "What do Japanese people eat so that they can have breakfast" to me.
What about asagohan no toki ni...?
That would probably refer to a specific breakfast ;)

Neither am I. I want to put "donna koto," but that would be wrong, and "donna mono" sounds just plain weird.
How about: 朝ご飯については、日本人がどんな食べ物を食べますか。
You're probably right but I can't help feeling について isn't nessecary. Take that away and you're left with "About breakfast, what sort of food do Japanese people eat?" Which is more like what we're after.
