What Oldskool Anime/Mangas do you know?
I see all (well actually most of) these threads about mangas and animes that are all fairly new and in the hype at the moment.
What about the Oldskool ones?!
Just to name a few:
Megaman (Rockman) - the real old one
Ultraman
Astroboy
Samurai Pizza Cats - hahaha! they keep rocking
Which one do you still know?

Good luck with studying everybody and I hope one day I will be able to pick it back up.
Until then, a nice goodbye from me to you

I'm old old school
Gatchaman aka G-Force (I must've been the only kid who wanted to see 7 Zark 7 explode).
Speed Racer
Voltron (cats and cars, respectively)
Robotech
Dragonball (not to be confused with Z and GT)
Little twin stars
Unico the Unicorn
Astroboy
were some of the shows I watched growing up.

Card Captor Sakura is not that old! It's from the 90's. A personal favorite, it was one of the first anime I ever saw.

Looney Tunes, Merrie Melodies... oh wait, you meant American usage of "anime", didn't you? In that case, "Gigantor" and "Speed Racer".

I think the term" anime" has been adopted by everyone in the world as the term for "japanese animations". Except to the japanese, of course. I don't think there is a need to be a smartass about it. If you were. I honestly can't tell whether someone is sarcastic or genuine. XD;
And, um, I'm afraid I'm not all that old school. I like being a young whippersnapper, thankyouverymuch. But I do love my Akira, which is from the eighties. n_n Dragonball, Dr. Slump, and Lone Wolf and Cub are also faves. <3

Well, looking at the entries so far, I know Samurai Pizza Cats and Dragonball. Love 'em both! I've only seen a few parts of Astroboy; it never really caught my interest enough. As for Speed Racer...ha! The only glimpse I've seen of that show is from the über-lame Geico ripoffs!

My absolute favourite was Marine Boy in the late 60's early 70's. I spent a number of summers pretending to be him swimming in the ocean with my "oxygum" (made by Wrigley's of course) and throwing my underwater boomerang (no problem sourcing one of those).
Watched a lot of Kimba the White Lion (the original 60's version) around the same time although I out grew Kimba before I out grew Marine Boy.

Don't complain to me that people kick you when you're down. It's your own fault for lying there

Im really interested in seeing the first Dragonball. I've never seen it but it sounds great!
Good luck with studying everybody and I hope one day I will be able to pick it back up.

Ah yes...Kimba! I remember that as well. Don't remember Marine Boy. Dang, starting to realize that there are so many youngsters here. Not that I'm old mind you...*ahem*...yeaaa.chikara wrote:

RE: What Oldskool Anime/Mangas do you know?
did anybody know that the last Astro Boy box set is coming out soon? i read this article from a REALLY long time ago, like in February or January 2006, saying that it's 2nd to last boxset came out. so, i assume that the last few eps are coming out soon or are already out!
so for all those fans, be happy!
